Yoga in Taos, New Mexico

- Do you feel like your body could be more responsive, nimble, and strong?
- Would you like to focus your mind and calm your thoughts?
- Are you just looking for a yoga class that feels right for you?
I welcome you to come practice. If you live in Taos or are visiting here, if you’ve practiced for years or haven’t ever tried yoga…join me.

Body, Mind, Heart

The intention of my teaching is to strive, evolve, and relax. Together as a class, we aim for this with humility, warmth, and dashes of humor.
I teach yoga postures to stretch and work all major muscle groups …to bring awareness to the body, and to nourish it through movement.
Beginning with where your body is, and focusing on the breath throughout the practice, we do a series of postures that develop strength, flexibility, will, concentration, and balance.

  • breathing
  • standing postures
  • floor postures
  • final relaxation

Movement, Awareness, Stillness

Finding inner stillness, having an awareness of breath, feeling how dynamic the breath is in each posture. This is what yoga is about for me.
Stretch out your body, connect with spirit through the postures, move toward greater health. Yoga can lead to a stronger and more flexible body. It can calm you and make you feel better.
It is an opportunity to learn how to relax completely.

If you live here or while you're visiting Taos,
I invite you to come practice...

Testimonials

"I wish I could attend your class every day."
Holly, Taos, New Mexico

“Monica’s style is one to treasure. Her grounded, down-to-earth approach is refreshing – her classes are about openness and joy, not about attitude. She leaves you meeting the rest of the day with happiness, laughter, and peace.” AnJanette, Arroyo Seco, New Mexico

"Monica is so great because she keeps it simple and easy and gentle and encourages us to stay within ourselves. ...I am falling for yoga..., the stretching and breathing and meditation, and the core work at our own pace is so right for me right now." Bill, Taos, New Mexico

"In one hour Monica is able to cover all important aspects of the body in such a way that flows from one pose to the next - continually opening the body in a way that is simple yet complete."

Charly, Taos, New Mexico

"Monica's yoga classes are part of what I love most about Taos. Monica shares by doing with her students... as she brings it with warmth and enthusiasm, every single time! Monica is dedicated and always upbeat...all we students ever get is her best!"

Sharon, Taos, New Mexico

"All I'm saying is that to liberate the potential of your mind, body and soul, you must first expand your imagination. You see, things are always created twice: first in the workshop of the mind and then, and only then, in reality. I call this process "blueprinting" because anything you create in your outer world began as a simple blueprint in your inner world."
Robin Sharma, The Monk Who Sold His Ferrari

“Exercises are like prose, whereas yoga is the poetry of movements. Once you understand the grammar of yoga; you can write your poetry of movements.”
Amit Ray, Yoga and Vipassana: An Integrated Life Style

"True meditation is about being fully present with everything that is--including discomfort and challenges. It is not an escape from life."
Craig Hamilton
